The Facebook post got more than 2,000 likes and reactions from social media users who were just as confused as the parents were after taking a look at the math problem.

Everyone seemed united in asking essentially, how is *this *problem at the first grade math level?

The family also added that the uploaded page was the final page on a 7 page sheet and that the previous pages were much more in line with standard math equations usually found in a first grade classroom.

They said that while they “don’t think the teacher expects everyone to get this,” they believe that “it was meant to be a problem that would challenge the children” and they were indeed happy that the school included the problem in.
