Former English Teacher Impregnated By Teenage Student Sentenced To 10 Years Behind Bars
Alexandria Vera, 25, from Texas, is a former middle-school English teacher who was impregnated by her 13-year-old student.
After pleading guilty to having a long-term sexual relationship with a child, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
In a story somewhat similar to that of Adam Sandler’s 2012 comedy movie, That’s My Boy, Vera, who taught at Stovall Middle School in Houston, said she met the boy during summer school and romance blossomed after the two began exchanging messages in Instagram.
According to prosecutors and the WP, the pair had sex almost every day for nine months.
The court had also learned that Vera paid cell phone bills and bought groceries for the family, as well as attended holiday events with them as the boy’s girlfriend.
Prosecutors also added that she had let two eight graders have sex at her home.
While the State District Judge during Vera’s sentencing hearing says that he does not believe the 25-year-old is a danger to other children, nor a “classic pedophile”, he said that he needed to send a message to the community.
To be honest, if the boy and his family consented to their relationship, then how exactly is this a case of pedophilia? Couldn’t it be that the two really were in love?
